Deputy Manager: Children’s Residential Home
Location: Tilbury
Salary: £37,500 – £42,000 per annum
Additional Pay: Up to 2 sleep-ins per week (£50 per sleep-in) + £2,000 annual on-call allowance
Hours: Full-Time (40 hours per week)
Are you an experienced and passionate childcare professional looking to take the next step in your career? We’re seeking a dedicated Deputy Manager to join our team and help lead a children’s residential home that supports young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the Registered Manager in the safe, effective daily running of the home.

Lead by example to ensure outstanding care and support for children and young people.

Implement and manage staff rotas to meet the needs of the children.

Guide and supervise staff, fostering a positive, high-quality care culture.

Ensure full compliance with The Children’s Homes Regulations, Children Act, and safeguarding frameworks.

Support with recruitment and staff development through inductions, training, and appraisals.

Liaise with external professionals and maintain strong working relationships with families and carers.

Maintain the home’s Statement of Purpose and ensure all practice aligns with this.

Deputise in the Registered Manager’s absence and share on-call duties.
Person Specification:
-
Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience (Level 3 or above) in a supervisory role within an Ofsted-registered children’s home.

Experience as a Deputy Manager, Senior Support Worker, or Team Leader.

Level 5 Leadership & Management in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards this).

Strong leadership skills and ability to manage and develop a care team.

Experience leading Reg 44 visits and participating in Ofsted inspections.

Knowledge of administering medication, managing petty cash, and following safeguarding protocols.
