Gap Healthcare is recruiting compassionate and dedicated Support Workers on behalf of our client in Kent. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact by supporting individuals to live independently and achieve their goals.

Salary: £20,820.80 per annum (up to 35 hours/week)
Reporting to: House Manager or their designate

Working Hours

  • Full-time: 35 hours/week (excluding a 30-minute meal break).
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings and alternate weekends.
  • Sleepover shifts: Lone working from 9 p.m.; £45.00/night (10 p.m.–7 a.m.).

  • Local travel to support residents practicing skills.

Role Purpose

Support individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities in a supported living environment, fostering independence and personal growth.

Responsibilities

  1. Resident Support:
    • Assist residents with daily tasks, training, and personal care (e.g., hair washing).
    • Encourage independence using tailored support plans and risk assessments.
    • Supervise residents during activities and outings, ensuring safety and engagement.
  2. Behavior Management:
    • Implement Positive Behavior Support strategies, focusing on understanding the causes of behaviors.
    • Use proactive planning and maintain a calm demeanor to manage challenging situations.
  3. Documentation & Communication:
    • Complete incident reports, risk assessments, and progress logs.
    • Provide monthly updates to the CEO (key workers only).
    • Maintain confidentiality and liaise with families, managers, and external partners as needed.
  4. Teamwork & Training:
    • Mentor new staff and participate in team meetings.
    • Help coordinate resident moves and support property maintenance (e.g., basic DIY, gardening).
  5. Community Engagement:
    • Promote social inclusion by organizing activities and outings.
    • Advocate for residents, supporting their interaction with family and friends.

Other Requirements

  • Must hold a valid driver’s license (reimbursement available for adding Business Use insurance).
  • Adhere to the companies policies and contribute to service improvement.
