gap healthcare is currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Chelmsford for a dedicated Support Worker.

This role involves supporting young people ages 8-17. All the young people have a learning disability which covers a broad range of needs and diagnosis. Our young people require different levels of support, from support with their communication and behaviours, to helping them with their personal care and independence skills. Every day is different, and the main aim is to ensure all the young people are happy and safe.

Salary £27,000 – £28,000

Hours: 7.30am-8pm (with 30 mins PAID break)

Full time hours: 3 x 12.5-hour shifts per week.

Sleep in: On average 1 x per week.

Role Overview:

  • As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing the young people we support with a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Our mission is to safeguard the children and young people's potential, understanding that each child is unique.
  • We work with young people who may present challenging behaviours. We are looking for staff who are kind, caring, resilient, and able to support young people in all areas of their care, including personal care where required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care and support to young people in a residential setting.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure the well-being of the young people.
  • Support young people in their personal care and independence skills.
  • Promote a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Engage with young people in various activities and programs.
  • Complete reports and documentation as required.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • A passion for working with young people.
  • Ability to work as part of a team with a caring, supportive attitude.
  • Reliability and responsibility.
  • Resilience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good command of English with the ability to write reports.
  • Enjoyment of a challenge.
  • Full valid driving license (to drive our cars).
